How to Fall

How to Fall is an investigation in the concept of falling, both literally and figuratively. I was interested in the moment of abandonment, the place in time and space when the body lets go of its holding.  Through task and experiment, I explored the ways the body falls when unexpectedly pushed. How does the skeleton collapse? Giving my dancers tasks, I asked them to then explore in the imagination and in the body other metaphoric concepts of falling: to fall in love, to fall asleep, and to fall apart. How did imagining those stories of falling mentally and emotionally affect their physical embodiment?
